Growing Challenge update
Dec 13th, 2009 by Tom

No flowers this week on the aquaculture tomato plant. The humidity is below 30% but the plant looks healthy.

Still no flowers to report. The Hydroponic organic tomato continues to look good though. I just keep thinking to myself “any day now.”

I may be killing my plants with love
Dec 5th, 2009 by Tom

My plants seem to be turning yellow and dying. There are lots of tiny pin pricks of yellow. At first I thought it was spider mites and it may have originally been. But now I’m wondering if spraying for the spider mites might be causing burning of the leaves since the plants are so close to the light.

Just replaced my light in my hydroponic garden
Dec 3rd, 2009 by Tom

For the last two years I have been using a 1000w mh bulb. The bulbs should be replaced every year as they dim over time. Instead of going with another hps and since I have both a watermelon and pumpkin plant at flowering stage I put in the 1000W HPS I have. Fortunately my balast can handle both hps and MH, I’m not sure all of them can.
