Planted a few strawberry plants on the porch
Mar 9th, 2010 by Tom

The temps on the porch here in Massachusetts seem to be staying above freezing so I bought a “topsey turvy strawberry planter” at home depot and a few packs of strawberry plants. I nailed a hook from the ceiling of the porch and the planter is now hanging happily. I always find it exciting waiting to see if the plants will grow.

My day at the home and garden show
Mar 6th, 2010 by Tom

Today I went to the home and garden show and looked at some nice displays. I loved the stone work that a lot of the landscapers did. I really want to have some pavers laid for a driveway. I think it will hold up better over time and be easier to fix when it needs repair.

I also picked up a banana tree on impulse. I’ll have to see if this will survive my merciless hand.

Picture – Growing Challenge update – hydroponic tomatoes
Jan 31st, 2010 by Tom

This picture of the organic hydroponic tomato plant I’m growing using hydroculture shows the latest new growth from a seed I saved. Still waiting for it to flower. Humidity and temperature are low so I may have to wait until spring for it to flower…

Growing Challenge update - Hydroponic organic tomato.

Jan 11th, 2010 by Tom

Another week passes. The hydroponic organic aquaculture tomato plant is still growing fine. Still no flowers but the foliage is starting to fill out.
