May 18th, 2010 by Tom

31 days after planting the cucumber has flowered.

The cucumber plant has 1 female and 3 male flowers.

Time to try to pollinate!

Hydroponic gardening, outdoor gardening going well.
May 9th, 2010 by Tom

With the weather predicting frost tonight and tomorrow I though I’d get the good news in before I have to report the bad news of stuff getting damaged by the frost.

Two of the three new fruit trees are showing signs of life. There are leaves on the 5 variety apple tree and on the multi stone fruit tree. Still no sign of life from the 5 variety pear tree though.

Lots of the lettuce and other stuff we planted in the garden seem to be sprouting well (at least until the frosts predicted tonight and tomorrow.)

I finally got around to planting three watermelon plants in my basement. I moved one of the webcams giving viewers a top down view.

The cucumber and pumpkin seem to be doing well in the basement as well.

So the states of the gardens are good.

Picture of the next attempt at growing a hydroponic pumpkin. I am probably going to update every week or so with a new photo.
