109 days with a hydroponic sweet peper plant: from seed to harvest
February 12th, 2009 by Tom

This page is a consolidation of all the images I took while growing a hydroponic sweet pepper plant from seed. I am hoping that people will find it useful. When I am researching a plant, I often try to find images of a plant at a certain point during its growth but often have a lot of trouble finding the right image.

The plant is a sweet bell pepper (was in a mix of sweet bell pepper seeds.) Might be albino.

Started on 10/12/2008 and harvesting the first fruit on 01/30/2009. The growing system is an Emily’s garden system. The lights I use are 1000W MH with a light cycle of 16 hours on, 8 off. I used General Hydroponics Flora Nova grow for my nutrient solution mixed at 1 teaspoon per gallon of water. I add about 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda to increase the PH to about 6. The last month or so I stopped using baking soda and just left the ph where it was. I didn’t even check it so I can’t tell you what it was either.

Timeline
Day 1 – Planted seed
Day 5 – Seed sprouted
Day 15 – First true leaves emerge
Day 57 – First flower
Day 109 – First fruit harvested

See Hydroponic peppers for the daily comments and pictures.
