Well, as I posted on the main page, I set up a drip system in which I'm trying to grow hydroponic pumpkins. I'm also trying to grow hydroponic carrots with it.
I think I already found out my biggest mistake with it. I'm using a 32 gallon trashcan to hold the nutrients. The problem lies with the height of the trash can. To get the waste water drained back into the bucket is a tough task.
The container I'm growing the pumpkins in has to be taller than the trash can. That means it has to be about 4 feet off the ground. Heck, my light is only about 6 feet off the ground. I should have thought of this before buying the trash can.
I think I'm going to start looking for longer/wider/shallower containers in the future for the nutrient soultion.

A day after my last post I went back to homedepot and got a 37 gallon container that was only about 2 feet tall. It seems to be working okay.
Apparantly the hydroponic pumpkins don't mind their set up. After less than a week I have a pumpkin sprout about 2 inches tall.

Be sure to hand pollinate just like you did with the watermelon. It's awesome you are taking on advanced crops with your indoor garden. Good luck!
